The average working person pays at least 25% tax. Meanwhile, 91 millionaires and 1,253 corporate entities paid no income tax at all in 2022-23, according to the ATO.
Australia’s tax system is no longer delivering fairness: t’s being exploited by the wealthy, deepening inequality and threatening the services and infrastructure we all rely on.
This is a moment to act. A fairer tax system will strengthen our economy, support essential services, and secure a better future for the next generation.
When did paying tax become optional?
The structural flaws in Australia’s tax system disadvantage younger Australians and entrench intergenerational inequality.
When millionaires and corporations pay less tax than nurses and teachers, something must change.
Our natural resources must benefit all Australians, not just shareholders. Our tax and payment systems must support workforce participation, especially for women and single parents.
We need reform that closes loopholes, simplifies the system, and ensures everyone pays their fair share.
We can’t leave workers worse off
We can no longer pretend that our taxation system is working equitably – it has been deliberately gamed by some of the wealthiest among us; tax minimisation is now big business in its own right.
Without change, workers will be further left behind and intergenerational wealth inequality will worsen.
This is about reforming Australia’s tax system so that it is fair for everyone, now and in the future.
