Question posted by John: I injured the tendons in my hand at work and I had to work the next day and my hand swelled up. Went to doctors and he said I can only do light duties for the next 4-6 weeks. I had the next 2 days off work but I wanted a 3rd day off as my hand is stiff very sore but they won’t let me I must go to work and do light duties or take and RDO instead of a sick day. I have almost 6 months’ worth of sick pay and they won’t let my use 1 day?

Hi John, sorry to hear that you have injured your hand at work. Have you been back to your doctor to see if you can get a third day off? It would be a good idea to see them anyway to get the ok from your doctor before returning to make sure you don’t injure yourself further. If you’re a union member you should also let them know that you’re being pressured to return to work. Why don’t you give us a call on our toll free number 1300 486 466 so that I can get some more details from you and advise you on what action to take. Our hours are 9am-5.30pm Monday-Thursday(EST) and Friday9am-4.30pm.
