Record low rates: what it means for you

Industry super fund-owned bank ME looks at how to navigate today’s super low cash rate environment.

July 2019 saw history in the making when the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) cut 0.25% off the official cash rate for the second time in two months, taking it down from 1.25% to 1.00%.

It’s the lowest cash rate ever recorded by the RBA, and it has the potential to affect your money health.

Super changes must put working people first

The ACTU has welcomed the Morrison Government’s commitment to end their “culture wars” against industry funds and calls on their legislative priorities for superannuation to put members’ interests first.

Assistant Minister Jane Hume told Nine newspapers the Morrison Government is considering an overhaul of the sector to be completed by 2021.

ACTU Assistant Secretary Scott Connolly said, “I’m glad that the Assistant Minister has promised to end the ‘culture wars’ her party has been waging against industry super to address universally-held concerns for the health of our retirement income system.”

The Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA raffle for 2019 was drawn at the Trades Hall Auditorium in Sydney on Thursday 6 June, 2019. Thanks to Unions NSW Secretary, Mark Morey, for drawing the winning tickets.
